Dead Cells Gets New Animated Trailer Before Full Release

Motion Twin has released an awesome animated trailer for Dead Cells as it nears a full release. The trailer uses humour and action to showcase what makes Dead Cells fun to play. It’s a perfect encapsulation of the core gameplay loop. Venture out to an unknown world, get killed and come back with stronger gear. The roguelike-Metroidvania will leave Early Access on August 7, however, the current version already has a substantial amount of content.

Dead Cells

With Dead Cells, Motion Twin has created an unusual blend, mixing two genres that don’t obviously fit. Despite that, the game actually works out well, giving players a fun and challenging platformer that emphasises combat. There are hundreds of weapon and item combinations and the procedural generation keeps every playthrough fresh. Dead Cells also has branching pathways so you don’t have to take the same route every time. You can go down into the sewers or make your way up towards the castle ramparts. The level of player freedom and choice is easily one of Dead Cells’ strongest points. The combat rewards skilful and aggressive players, so if you’re a fan of that, then consider putting it on your wishlist.

August is shaping up to a huge month for awesome indie titles. Chasm, Death’s Gambit and of course, Dead Cells, are right up with the upper echelons of indie games. If you still have money left over (or if you don’t), then check out our list of major releases this August. It’s crazy to think how many quality games we’re getting every single month. Anyway, if the trailer above has piqued your interest, then be sure to visit Dead Cell’s steam page for more information and gameplay. Dead Cells will also be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, all of which are receiving the full update at the same time.
