Cyberpunk 2077 Dev on Red Dead Redemption 2: “We strive to publish games which are as refined.”

Red Dead Redemption 2’s release date has come and gone, but players are still just as deeply immersed in Rockstar’s open-world, western epic as they were at the end of October. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the standout of this generation of gaming on many levels, in terms of graphics, narrative, sound, the sheer depth of the map, and more. Fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 aren’t the only ones singing its praises, though. Developer CD Projekt Red has also taken notice, and the developer is taking some lessons from the craze of Red Dead Redemption 2‘s release and applying them to its own upcoming open-world game, Cyberpunk 2077.

In a recent conference call, chaired by CD Projekt Capital Group’s President of the Board, Mr. Adam Kicinski and Vice President and CFO Mr. Piort Nielubowicz, CD Projekt Red was asked about the release of Red Dead Redemption 2. During the call, Lukasz Kosiarski from Pekao IB noted that Rockstar’s game seemed “good enough” on release to garner a 97/100 score, and asked what CD Projekt Red has learned from this event, and if they expect the release of Cyberpunk to be in a good enough state to score “at least 95 points”. To that, CD Projekt Red responded, saying:

“We strive to publish games which are as refined as Red Dead Redemption 2, and recent Rockstar games in general…what does that teach us? Well, it teaches us that we need to publish extraordinary games, and that’s exactly what we’re planning.”

You can read a transcript of the conference call and Kicinski’s full response here.

Cyberpunk 2077 is still in development with no release date yet. The game will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
