E3 2018: The New Look at Cyberpunk 2077 is Fantastic

Microsoft closed out its E3 2018 show with an explosive trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 from developer CD Projekt Red (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt), and by the looks of it, it’s shaping up to be a fantastic game.

The sprawling science fiction RPG was first announced way back in January of 2013, and even then we only received a short teaser trailer. Over the years, CD Projekt Red has kept many details of the game under-wraps, but have always assured fans that it was, in fact, still in development.

As evidenced by the trailer today, a lot has changed with Cyberpunk 2077 in the last five years, and CD Projekt Red took its moment at E3 this year to show us how far this title has come in terms of world building, action, and even a possible story.

While the massive city featured in the game remains unnamed right now, we get a little background information about what we can expect from it. In the beginning of the trailer, the narration begins, “They voted my city the worst place to live in America. Main issues: sky-high rate of violence and more people living below the poverty line than anywhere else.” Despite this, everyone still wants a taste of life in the city.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a single-player story driven game. In conference earlier this year, the CEO of CD Projekt Red described the game as obviously being different from The Witcher in terms of content, but gamers can expect signature elements in terms of the scope of the world, and an abundance of player choice.

As of now, there is no release date or even a release window for Cyberpunk 2077, but it’s great to see the game finally resurface. More information will be added as it becomes available.

Tori is originally from Rapture but now she lives in Chicago. She enjoys open world RPGs, a good narrative-driven game, and is probably the only person still watching The Walking Dead.
