Crash Bandicoot 4 Officially Revealed, Releases This October

It’s hard to believe that it has been 22 years since we were smashing crates and collecting Wumpa fruit in Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. Two decades and some change later, the aptly named Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time looks better than ever.

“Picking up where the original trilogy left off,” reads the official description, “Neo Cortex and Dr. Nefarious Tropy have escaped their interdimensional prison and in doing so have fractured the boundaries of time and space. It’s up to Crash and Coco to save the day.” The fourth entry in the Crash Bandicoot series implements some interesting gameplay mechanics. Equipped with a ray gun that can turn things into either a solid or bouncy platform, Neo Cortex, as well as other yet to be announced playable characters, are sure to be a welcomed addition to an already entertaining franchise. Of course, you can still expect to have just as much fun smashing crates as the ever-lovable Crash.

Players will collect four quantum masks throughout the new Crash game, eventually combining them all to restore balance to the multiverse. Each mask grants the player a different power. Use the time mask to manipulate time or use the gravity mask to traverse levels upside down on the roof. There are two other masks as well, however no details have yet been shared as to what they do. The official PlayStation website describes the game, saying:

New abilities? Check. More playable characters? Yep. Alternate dimensions? Obviously. Ridonkulous bosses? For sure. Same awesome sauce? You bet your sweet jorts. Wait, are they actually jorts? Not in this universe!

All in all, the game is an exciting announcement for both veterans of the Crash Bandicoot series who are looking for some nostalgia, and newcomers who enjoyed the Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy remaster. Pre-orders are now live for the game, and you can expect to play Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time on October 2, 2020 on both Xbox One and PS4. Check out the game’s official trailer below. You can also visit the games official website here.
