Burger King PS5 Promotion Begins Today

American fast food chain Burger King raised some eyebrows on Monday when it tweeted a video of its mascot, The Burger King, opening up a bag in a kitchen. The bag emits a blue glow and plays a sound that was featured in a PS5 UI tease from June. As the video ends, the date “10/15” appears on the screen.

The PlayStation Twitter account retweeted the video shortly thereafter. The sound effect led to speculation that a PS5 UI reveal was being hinted at, which did happen today as well, but His Majesty was promoting something else. Burger King customers in the US will have the chance to win a PS5 by purchasing a 2 for $5 meal between October 15 and November 22. The complete rules for the contest can be viewed at the Burger King website. This contest is similar to one that is currently running at Taco Bell, where hungry gamers have a chance to win an Xbox Series X.

PS5

Coming back to Sony’s PS5 plans, during today’s State of Play UI presentation, SIE Content Communications Director Sid Shuman said that additional features for the PS5 and PlayStation App user experience will be shown “in the coming weeks headed to launch.” Last week the company detailed how backwards compatibility will work on the new console, and only 10 PS4 titles are currently incompatible. Developers for two of the tiles, DWVR and TT Isle of Man 2, have already vowed to release patches that will allow them to play on PS5.
