Arkane Lyon, the developer behind the popular Dishonored games is back with a new IP titled Deathloop, an immersive first-person shooter that will release exclusively on PS5 this holiday season.
Deathloop was revealed near the end of the PlayStation 5 Future of Gaming event today, and fans of Dishonored might have recognized some familiar stealth and combat mechanics during Deathloop’s three and a half minute reveal trailer. Players assume the role of Colt, a man trapped on an island known as Blackreef, which has been stuck in a time loop. It’s there that Colt is determined to kill a rival assassin, Julianna. Before he can take her down, though, he’ll have to fight his way through eight targets who are responsible for maintaining the endless cycle.
Anne Lewis, Content Manager at Bethesda Softworks, gives players a little more detail about Deathloop, writing that “each repeated day is an opportunity to learn, adapt, and solve the puzzle of Deathloop. It’s up to you how you go about this. You can tackle each loop at your own pace, and in any order you choose- selecting missions, targets and explorations as you see fit.”
Deathloop will release on PC and exclusively on consoles for PlayStation 5 in 2020.
