Xbox and Bethesda to Have Joint E3 2021 Conference

Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty confirmed Xbox and Bethesda will have a joint E3 2021 press conference. The news of the joint showcase was revealed by Booty in a recent interview with French website Le Figaro. Bethesda has traditionally held its own E3 conferences over the years, but given Microsoft’s recent acquisition of ZeniMax Media, which put Bethesda and its sub-studios (id Software, Arkane Studios, Tango Gameworks, MachineGames, etc.) under the Xbox umbrella, the announcement of a joint E3 conference isn’t much of a surprise.

We already have a good idea of a couple upcoming titles Xbox will show off and are fully expecting both a release date and new trailer for Halo Infinite and Forza Motorsport at E3 2021. Historically, Xbox has also used its E3 keynotes to spotlight upcoming indie games and reveal brand new IPs. In terms of Bethesda taking the stage, there’s only one game on everyone’s mind: Starfield.

Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard first teased the upcoming sci-fi RPG at Bethesda’s E3 2018 conference, and the latest update we have on the game is that it will be an Xbox exclusive. There is no release window for the game yet, but Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier recently commented that “Bethesda’s plan is to tease a release date for Starfield at E3.”
