Watch Dogs: Legion Gets an Official Release Date

Kicking off Ubisoft Forward was Watch Dogs: Legion with a lengthy overview of the gameplay, as well as the announcement of its release date. The game will be releasing later this year on October 29, 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. No release date was given for the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game.

A cinematic trailer was shown first, telling the story of a cab driver who joins the London resistance. This was followed by a look at some gameplay and an explanation of the game’s story. After a terrorist attack happens in London, a private military company called Albion is hired to restore order to the city. They seek to do this by any means necessary, leading the city and the citizens to be heavily policed.

At the same time, an underground group called the Kelly Gang that’s led by Mary Kelly is partaking in numerous illegal activities. The London sect of hacker group Dedsec begins to rise up and build a resistance to take back their city from Albion and the Kelly Gang.

Players are able to profile and recruit anybody in the game to play as. Each of these characters have different abilities that make them unique from one another. During the gameplay overview, we got to see the same mission play out three different ways. The first time through, the player used a construction worker to tackle an Albion base in an aggressive manner, whereas the second time they used a hacker to take a more stealth oriented approach. The third run saw the player control an Albion soldier to walk right through the front door without any issue.

The presentation wrapped up with an appearance by Xbox boss Phil Spencer. He confirmed that Watch Dogs: Legion will support Smart Delivery between Xbox One and Xbox Series X. In addition, the Xbox Series X version will feature ray-tracing. PS4 owners will also have a free upgrade to the PS5 version available to them.
