In a recent earnings call, publisher Ubisoft has confirmed that it has several games on the horizon that will be coming to next gen consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett. While these announced games will also be cross-gen titles available on PS4 and Xbox One, it still gives us our first real look (aside from the news that Halo Infinite is launching with Scarlett) of what to expect when Sony and Microsoft’s new consoles release during Holiday 2020 and bring us into a new era of gaming.
Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot spoke to the publisher’s investors, stating that five games- Rainbow Six Quarantine, Watch Dogs: Legion, the new IP Gods and Monsters, and two unconfirmed AAA titles- will be releasing on PS5 and Xbox Scarlett. It’s also worth noting that Ubisoft recently announced these three confirmed games would be delayed from their original, early 2020 release dates, possibly to align more with the release of the new consoles. During the call, Guillemot explained:
The five titles will be on this generation and next generation of consoles, and they will take full advantage of all the new features that are coming with the machines. Which are actually going to be extremely interesting for players, as you will be able to download new content a lot faster.
We’re curious to know more about the two AAA titles that will also be coming to PS5 and Scarlett- whether they’re new IPs or expansions on current games. In the meantime, you can check out the official reveal of Watch Dogs: Legion and the teaser of Rainbow Six Quarantine here.
