In its recent development blog, Ubisoft released details concerning the skill categories that will be available in The Division 2. In total, there are five skill categories to choose from: the Chem Launcher, Drone, Hive, Seeker, Mine, and Turret. Each had a different impact on gameplay and provide different advantages during combat.
The first that Ubisoft details is the Chem Launcher, which is a brand new skill being introduced in The Division 2. As its name suggests, the Chem Launcher launches chemicals into the air that disperse into a cloud of fumes on impact. With Chem Launcher equipped, players will be able to choose from four different chemical chargers: Firestarter, Riot Foam, Oxider, and Reinforcer.
The second skill category is Drone. When a drone is deployed, it will follow you around, and depending on which one you have, it can either act passively or defensively toward enemy targets. There are five different types of drones: Striker, Defender, Tactician, Bombardier, and Fixer.
The third skill is Hive, which is also new in The Division 2. These miniature, advanced drones can either be thrown or placed on the ground, and will enact specialized attacks on their targets. Though mostly used for defense, Hive categories do offer options for offensive play. The Hive categories include: Stinger, in which the micro-drones attack hostile targets in range; Restorer, which detects missing armor on a friendly agent in its range; Booster, which administers stimulants to friendly players and boosts efficiency in combat; and finally Reviver, which can revive allies within a limited radius.
The final two skill categories, Seeker Mine and Turret, will also sound familiar to returning Division players. Ubisoft has brushed the dust off these skills a bit, and there a couple new and noteworthy features. The Seeker Mines use its sensors to attack both enemy and friendly targets, while Turrets track down and destroys specified targets.
The Division 2 will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 15, 2019. You can check out the premiere of the gameplay trailer below.
