The Walking Dead’s Clementine Voice Actor Issues Statement, “A lot of hearts were broken, including mine”

Following the shocking news that Telltale Games is closing its doors after more than a decade, actor Melissa Hutchison issued a heartfelt statement via TwitterHutchison, who voices The Walking Dead protagonist Clementine, wrote “a lot of hearts were broken, including mine.” She has been the voice of Clementine since the long-running series began back in 2012.

In the full-written statement, Hutchison explained how she, just like the fans of the series and fans of Telltale as a studio, “do not have the details on how this all came to be and I also do not know the fate of the final season of TWD [The Walking Dead]. To my knowledge, they will release Episode 2 and then that will be it.”

Episode 2, “Suffer the Children” did, in fact release at midnight last night; and while little is known about the fate of the remaining episodes, Telltale wrote yesterday that “multiple potential partners have stepped forward to express interest in helping to see The Final Season through to completion.

After the news broke, the hashtag #TelltaleJobs began circulating, as the games industry rallied behind the hundreds of Telltale developers who were abruptly laid off without notice or severance pay. One of those industry leaders was Cory Barlog, creative director for God of War, who expressed he wanted the former staff at Telltale to be treated with “the humanity and respect they deserve”.
