The Quiet Man Gets an Unsettling New Teaser Trailer
Square Enix’s mysterious project, The Quiet Man was first announced during E3 2018 and now we’ve just gotten another teaser of the game, which the publisher released yesterday on its official YouTube channel.
The Quiet Man is a narrative-driven action game that uniquely blends live action shots with realistic CG gameplay. After the announcement trailer in June, Square Enix explained more information would be coming soon, and now we finally have an official description of the game to go along with the new “Silence Rings Loudest” trailer.
We play as a deaf protagonist named Dane, who must fight his way through a “soundless” city and unravel the secrets behind a female musician’s abduction from a venue known as Club Moonrise. The events of the game take place over the course of a single night, and Square Enix says it can be completed in one sitting.
A letter from Kensei Fujinaga, the game’s producer, goes into more detail about the themes at the core of The Quiet Man. Fujinaga explains that words form our consciousness and are seen as the foundation of our livelihoods. Casting this concept aside and instead forging connections from the heart, or forming bonds with others by just looking at them, lies at the core of The Quiet Man. In the letter he writes, “Feelings that remain after words are abandoned, feelings that can be conveyed even without words- aren’t these feelings what are truly important in this life?”
The Quiet Man will be released as a digital only title on Steam and PlayStation 4. Right now, there is no release date.
