The Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Release Date May Have Leaked

Fans of Bioware’s original Mass Effect trilogy can start to get excited because it appears as if the release date for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has leaked, and it’s coming pretty soon. As reported by Eurogamer, online retailers have listed a March 12, 2021 release date for the game. Neither EA or BioWare have come out to address the leak, but it certainly would make sense for it to be accurate.

For starters, when the game was originally announced back in November, it was only given a Spring 2021 release window. While there are many months in Spring, March would be a good time for the game to drop since there currently aren’t too many games coming out at that time. This would give the game the spotlight that it deserves, as well as give fans a good amount of time to dive back into the world of Mass Effect all over again without having to worry about other games that they may want to play. March 12th is also a Friday, a day that is common for new games that release on. If this date is real, we’ll be sure to get confirmation about it soon since it’s not too far away.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will include all of the single-player content and DLC for the original trilogy in a collection that’s completely remastered and optimized for 4K visuals. It’ll be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, as well as the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Those two consoles will receive special enhancements for the collection.

In other Mass Effect news, BioWare announced in December that both General Manager, Casey Hudson, and Dragon Age Executive Producer, Mark Darrah, would be leaving the company. The two leads each released their own statements about their departures, in which they assured fans that the future of the company is bright and that the new projects in both the Dragon Age and Mass Effect franchises are in good hands. Shortly after at The Game Awards, we got a brief tease at the next installment in the Mass Effect series in the form of a short cinematic teaser trailer. The future of Mass Effect may be a ways out, but at least the original trilogy will be here soon to make the wait feel just a bit shorter.
