Developer Rare recently announced that Sea of Thieves has a new update entitled “Gilded Gifts”, courtesy of the Pirate Lord. According to the official announcement post, every player who sails the seas during this month and into the first week of January, will be able to participate in what the update has to offer.
The Gilded Gifts update includes a variety of new items and voyage perks, including paying 0 Doubloons for a Gilded Voyage at any Outpost. The voyages in this update have high-value rewards to be collected and will add “some real holiday joy” to players’ inventories.
The advanced voyage options include: Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance, or Athena’s Fortune. Athena’s Fortune, however, is only available to those who’ve reached Pirate Legend status. Though the voyage will be in your inventory until you choose to embark on it, you will only have one opportunity to complete it, so you might want to think twice before diving in.
Players will also notice pirates at the Outposts have been overcome with the holiday spirit and have put up decorations, offering the perfect backdrop for some festive photos with your crew.
In the announcement post for Gilded Gifts, Rare also makes it clear that players don’t have to worry about losing features that were added as part of the major “Shrouded Spoils” content update.
