Rainbow Six Siege Goes Down Under With Year 4 Updates

Ubisoft’s popular multiplayer tactical shooter, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, is undergoing some massive changes and will be receiving new content for its fourth year on the market. Most significantly, the game will be going down under with two new operators and a new map set in the outback of Australia.

Revealed during the Six Invitational Event, the big update for Year 4 Season 1, known as Operation Burnt Horizon, will include two new Australian Operators, Mozzie and Gridlock. Mozzie is a defensive character with some neat hacking abilities while Gridlock takes a more offensive approach with her damaging spike clusters. The accompanying map, Outback, takes after its name with a rural desert town setting making for an intimate, close quarters battle arena.

Further changes in Season 1 include a change in how friendly fire works. Players who inflict damage on one of their teammates will now take on that damage themselves. However, this self-harm will only activate after that player has already killed one of their friendly players.

Furthermore, Ubisoft has unveiled the entire roadmap for updates and changes coming to Rainbow Six Siege this year, which will roll out in four different seasons. The changes include reworking the Kafe, Kanal and Theme Park maps while several present operators will undergo their own rebalancing. Joining the roster will be new operators from Denmark, Peru, Mexico, Kenya, India and the US Secret Service. Updates to the UI and playlist requirements can also be expected.

The two new Australian operators were made available on test servers on February 18, 2019. Rainbow Six Siege is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
