PS5 Games Reveal Stream Rescheduled for June 11

In an updated post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony has announced that the PS5 games reveal stream will now take place on Thursday, June 11 at 1pm Pacific Time. The showcase was originally supposed to air last week on June 4, but was delayed in response to the civil unrest surrounding the death of George Floyd in the United States. When the delay was announced, Sony stated that it wanted “to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard.”

It was also revealed that the stream will be broadcast at a 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. According to SIE Content Communications Senior Director Sid Shuman, the pre-recorded video was formatted in this manner to accommodate developers and PlayStation team members who have been working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was quick to point out, however, that games will obviously look better when played on PS5 connected to a 4K TV.

Sony’s messaging thus far has indicated that the stream will focus on PS5 games and it remains to be seen if the company will discuss any other aspects of the console. The PS5 DualSense controller was revealed back in April, but the appearance of the console itself still remains a mystery. A specific release date and price have also yet to be announced.
