Pokémon news website, Serebii, has revealed some leaks about the upcoming Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! According to these leaks, Mega Evolution will be making a return. As usual, you will need the Key Stone and the specific Mega Stone for each Pokémon to use Mega Evolution. The magazine shows off the Mega forms of the three Kanto starters: Charizard, Venasaur and Blastoise. Both Charizard X and Y are featured, however, there is no information about which version will have which form.
Also from the leaks, we get a look at Misty, Brock and Lt. Surge, the first three Kanto gym leaders. From the images, it seems as if Lt. Surge has retained the puzzle from the original games where you must find two switches in the garbage bins. He also has Raichu as one of his Pokemon, so it’s nice to see the electric rodent keep his spot. It was previously shown in gameplay trailers that players can only access gyms if you have a Pokemon strong against that gyms’ type. For example, you won’t be able to enter Lt. Surge’s gym if you don’t have a ground type, as that is the only type strong against electric.
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will be the first batch of Pokemon RPGs for the Nintendo Switch. The games are slated for a November 16th 2018 release, so there’s only a couple of months to go. It launches alongside the Poke Ball Plus, a portable device that allows you to carry a Pokemon with you. Similar to the Poke Walker from Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Unlike the Poke Walker, you can actually use the Poke Ball Plus as a controller, as it replaces one of the joy-cons.
It is reassuring to see that Game Freak is keeping Mega Evolutions in the game. The developers had made a point about focusing only on the first generation for this game, so the return of this Generation 6 feature was in doubt. Now that we have it though, what else would like to see in the upcoming Pokémon games? Let us know!
