Playdead’s Inside is Coming to Nintendo Switch

Indie developer Playdead revealed that Inside will soon be coming to the Nintendo Switch and iOS devices. While there is no definitive release date for either yet, the news is still enough to get fans excited.

Inside was released last year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The puzzle platformer ended up being a favorite of fans and critics alike (just like its predecessor, Limbo), and it was even nominated for the Game of the Year award. In Inside, players control an unnamed boy and guide him through environmental obstacles. The game is hauntingly atmospheric, and the dark setting can be used to the player’s advantage, or it can prove to be your downfall, as you maneuver through the environment avoiding enemies like dogs and security cameras.

The announcement of Inside on the Switch is just another example of the great year Nintendo has been having its console. The Switch had a strong launch in March with Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a great E3 2017 conference, and a steady release of titles throughout the year like Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle; not to mention the Switch’s lineup of games is about to get even stronger with the upcoming release of Skyrim and Doom later this year.

Even before the Switch was released, a number of indie and first-party developers (Ubisoft, Epic Games, Bethesda, etc.), partnered with Nintendo in ways we’ve never seen before. The developers seem to be putting a lot of faith in the Switch, especially in its ability to garner new audiences for long-running franchises.

Inside will be a great addition to your Switch collection, particularly for those who have yet to experience it on console or PC. Hopefully Playdead announces a release date for it soon. In the meantime, keep up with more Nintendo Switch news at LoadingXP.
