Nuclear Winter Gets Big Updates in New Fallout 76 Patch

Today Bethesda released patch 10.5 for Fallout 76, in a sizable update that fixes a ton of bugs across all of the game’s modes and some “design adjustments” for the recently-released battle royale mode, Nuclear Winter. The patch also takes the Nuclear Winter from its “Pre-Beta” status into “Beta”. Download sizes will run you 3 GB on PS4 and Xbox, and 1 GB on PC. While there’s a ton of fixes included in the patch that apply to loot, quests, challenges, and events, we’ve highlighted some that focus on the game’s overall performance, UI, and changes to CAMPS.

Nuclear Winter UI, Design Changes + CAMPS

The bulk of the patch update will affect Nuclear Winter in terms of its design, UI, and gameplay. For UI, a “More Info” button has been included in the Perk Card menu. The compass has also been fixed, which was falsely displaying teammates’ map locations; and an exploit has been addressed that previously allowed a player to remain inside Vault 51, when they should have been loaded into a match. Other UI updates include:

  • Quick C.A.M.P. Kits: When attempting to place a Quick C.A.M.P. Kit, the Build menu now correctly opens to and highlights the selected Kit.
  • Quick C.A.M.P. Kits: Fixed an issue in which the Quick-Boy UI could visually persist while attempting to place a Quick C.A.M.P. Kit.
  • Spectator Mode: At the end of a match, a banner now appears for Spectators indicating who won.
  • Stats: When the final enemy on a team is killed while all of their teammates are in the downed state, the kill credit for the downed enemies will be awarded to the player who originally downed them as long as that player is still alive.

The Dead Man Sprinting perk has also been re-designed, due to it not applying its effects correctly. Having the perk equipped now will drain Action Points 25% slower if players are below 30% health.

CAMPS are getting several adjustments in Nuclear Winter. Where players would normally have to have Home Defense or the Science perk to place Blueprints, in Nuclear Winter, you can place them freely. According to Bethesda, though, “all objects a Blueprint contains that require those Perks, such as Turrets or Traps, will be removed on placement during a Nuclear Winter match.” Food, water, and resources have also been removed from the Build menu during matches.

The art and graphics in “Nuclear Winter” are also getting a few updates. The lighting in Vault 51 is now brighter, which will make it easier to see the enemies in your surrounding area before a match starts. A graphical corruption that would appear on the Storm wall during a Storm has also been addressed.
