Luigi seemed to meet his sudden, untimely death during Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct yesterday, when his soul was, quite literally, ripped out in Dracula’s castle. Fans collectively lost it, wondering if Mario’s brother is now gone forever, especially considering he didn’t appear in the rest of the Direct. Fear not, though. The Nintendo UK VS account assures us that Luigi will fight to see another day.
Of course, this is all in good fun and stirs up even more hype for the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as it’s unlikely Nintendo would kill of Luigi. Instead, his death was used a jaw-dropping way to introduce a new stage, and series of new characters that will be joining the roster of fighters, including Simon Belmont and his echo, Richter; Dark Samus, Chrom, and the villain from Donkey Kong, King K. Rool.
Still, though, Luigi fans are not convinced and have been vocal about their skepticism:
Yesterday, Nintendo carried on its Direct with news about new features and modes in the game. Some of the introduced new modes include Tourney Mode and Training Mode; while new features include stage morphing, over twenty hours worth of music, and more. Check out the full list of new features here, along with the returning stages fans can expect in the game.
