New Video Teases Meltan’s Alternative Form

With the release of Pokémon: Let’s Go next month, we continue to get more information on the upcoming title. The most recent update we have received from The Pokémon Company provides some more information on the mysterious new Pokémon, Meltan. The Pokémon Company first teased this Meltan through the game’s initial launch trailer. Here, we found that even though Pokémon: Let’s Go would be a reimagination of the Generation One Kanto Journey, players would receive a new, never before seen Pokémon.

The first glimpse of what this Pokémon would be occurred during the last Pokémon Go Community Day, wherein Meltan spawned without any identifying characteristics. Now, a new video from The Pokémon Company gives us some new details on the Pokémon.

Taking place in an augmented, Pokémon/human reality, this new trailer shows a young trainer examining the behavior and characteristics of this new Pokémon. As they write in their journal, we can see Meltan interacting with the real world. Through the young trainer’s journal entries, we get an idea of what we can expect from this new Pokémon.

Here we find that Meltan is made of an unidentified liquid metal, and they can absorb various metals into their body. The video highlights this by showing several Meltan absorbing everyday items, such as forks and screws. The video also notes that the Pokémon is quite mischievous, showing them causing harmless trouble around the trainer’s house.

However, the most exciting news to come out of this trailer is the reveal that Meltan will have multiple forms. As the trainer is writing in their journal, the shadow of a tall humanoid figure with Meltan’s head loom over them. The Pokémon Company did not specify if this new form is an evolution or a variable “Forme” – as seen in the Generation six Pokémon Zygarde. However, the mystery surrounding this Pokémon makes us believe it will be either a legendary or mythical Pokémon with multiple forms.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Evee! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! release on November 16 for the Nintendo Switch.
