Developer Moon Studios has been fairly silent with details about Ori and the Will of the Wisps ever since its teaser reveal at Microsoft’s E3 2017 show last year. We saw a short gameplay trailer at this year’s E3, and now even more information has come out about the upcoming title during Gamescom. In a special episode of the Inside Xbox livestream, a new mode called Spirit Trials was revealed for Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
Spirit Trials are challenges that can be found throughout the world of Ori. They will give players a way to compete against their friends in a series of timed races that can earn you in-game prizes if you are the winner. The Trials are all about speed, and the courses are fairly short averaging at around twenty-three seconds. Just based on the trailer for the new mode, there looks to be only one route players can race through to claim victory, with not a lot of room for deviation.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the follow up to Moon Studio’s Ori and the Blind Forest. The game promises an “immersive, dangerous world filled with gripping enemy encounters, challenging puzzles and thrilling escape sequences.”
Right now, there is no release date for the game, but it will release exclusively on Xbox One.
