Life is Strange: True Colors Announced
During today’s Square Enix Presents digital event, the company revealed Life is Strange: True Colors, the next entry in the Life Is Strange series.
True Colors stars Alex Chen, a bi-sexual Asian-American woman who has the power of Empathy. This psychic ability allows her to see the aura of other people’s emotions and absorb them, causing her to feel exactly what they’re feeling and understand why. The game brings Alex to the town of Haven Springs to reunite with her brother. Sometime after, he dies in a mysterious accident, causing Alex to accept her abilities and work to discover the truth behind her brother’s death.
Deck Nine, the developers behind Life is Strange: Before the Storm are behind the new game and have been working on it since 2017. With this new title, the game was motion captured allowing for better and more realistic performances from the cast. Another first for the series is the release schedule. Life is Strange: True Colors will release in its entirety on September 10 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia, and PC.
This is a welcome change of pace for the series, especially after the previous game, Life is Strange 2. That game was pretty well received, though it had a very drawn out release period. Its first episode came out in September 2018 and the final one didn’t release until December 2019.
Releasing the entire story for True Colors at once is sure to help players stay invested and see the game through to its conclusion. Chapter breaks will be included in the game though for those who would prefer to play through the game bit by bit.
