Life is Strange: Before the Storm Trailer Shows Content in Deluxe Edition

Square Enix released a new trailer for Life is Strange: Before the Storm, which shows off the features coming in the game’s deluxe edition. The deluxe edition includes a bonus episode entitled, “Farewell”, which focuses on a younger Max Caulfield, the protagonist of the main, five-part episodic game, and her friendship with Chloe.
We saw a bit of their interaction as young teens during the third episode of Life is Strange, “Chaos Theory”, as most of it was Max trying to change the outcome of Chloe’s father, William, dying in a car accident. Hopefully with “Farewell” we get a little more insight into their friendship and Chloe’s home life before Max moved to Seattle. We might even (dare I say it?) get to see Max’s parents, who are referenced a few times in the main game, but never seen.
The next feature in the deluxe edition is “Mixtape Mode”. One of my favorite things about Life is Strange has always been its autumnal soundtrack. The tunes against the backdrop of the fictional Pacific Northwest town of Arcadia Bay, made the game feel warm in a way that allowed me to connect with the story and characters more deeply than I’d expected.
Before the Storm has a whole new soundtrack coming with it, and “Mixtape Mode” will allow players to take licensed songs from the game and put it with a cinematic scene during the game. Deck Nine has not stated which cinematic scene yet.
Topping off these additions to the deluxe edition is the “Outfit Pack”. This feature gives Chloe three new wardrobe choices, called “Hawt Dog Man” (don’t ask), “Punk Doe”, and “Illuminati” (seriously, don’t ask).
Life is Strange: Before the Storm releases on August 31st for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The deluxe edition will be $24.99. Watch the trailer below!
