Update: Kratos is now available in the Fortnite item shop. Players on all platforms can purchase the outfit by itself for 1500 V-Bucks, while the 2200 V-Buck Kratos Bundle contains the outfit, Leviathan Axe harvesting tool, Guardian Shield glider, and Mimir head back bling. The Leviathan Axe and Guardian Shield can also be purchased separately for 1000 V-Bucks and 800 V-Bucks respectively. Additionally, players who complete a match on PS5 with the Kratos outfit will unlock the Armored Kratos style. The Kratos cosmetic items will be available until the Fortnite item shop resets at 4:00pm PST on Friday, December 4, unless Epic decides to extend the sale.
A trailer for Kratos’ arrivla in Fortnite can be viewed below.
Original Story: Fortnite made a splash on December 1 with the beginning of its fifth season, which includes a skin for The Mandalorian, but it looks like PlayStation fans have something extra to look forward to. According to noted Fortnite leaker HYPEX, a Kratos skin inspired by God of War (2018) will be coming to the game in the near future.
Dexterto is reporting that the image comes from a PlayStation Store ad that has been appearing prematurely for some users. It looks real enough on its own, but around the same time as HYPEX’s tweet, the PlayStation Twitter account shared an “audio transmission” from Fortnite that mentions someone who has “vanquished multiple gods with his bare hands.”
It’s not exactly clear when Kratos will make his basically-confirmed debut in Fortnite, but there’s still plenty to learn about the crossover in the meantime. God of War is a first-party PlayStation franchise, so will the skin have to be purchased on a PS5 or PS4? Will it be usable on non-PlayStation platforms? Will other God of War-inspired cosmetics be sold to complement the skin, such as a Leviathan axe Back Bling? Epic and Sony are sure to answer these questions very soon.
The leak has also stoked speculation among Xbox and Switch players, who are hopeful that Kratos’ inclusion is a signal that Microsoft and Nintendo-exclusive characters will be added to the game as well. Fortnite famously became the first completely cross-platform game when its popularity made Sony reconsider its approach to the feature, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
Fortnite’s fourth season ended on November 30 with an event where players had to team up to defeat Marvel villain Galactus. The game recently launched Fortnite Crew, a monthly subscription that includes the current battle pass, exclusive skins, and a monthly 1,000 V-Buck bonus.
Aside from Fortnite, Kratos’ next appearance will be in a follow-up to God of War (2018), which is rumored to be titled God of War: Ragnarok. The game is coming to PS5, but there is speculation that it could end up on PS4 as well, much like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West.
