Kojima Productions has announced via Twitter that its next game is in development, and the Tokyo-based studio is recruiting “best-in-class talent” to work on the project.
A variety of job listings can be viewed on the studio’s website but their descriptions are in Japanese. No further details about the project were provided.
Kojima Productions is the namesake studio of Hideo Kojima, the legendary designer best known for the Metal Gear franchise. He left Konami after 29 years with the publisher and formed his own independent studio in 2015. The studio’s lone release thus far is Death Stranding, which initially released on PS4 in November 2019. A 505 Games-published PC version was released in July.
With practically zero details to go by, it’s hard to even guess what Kojima Productions could be working on. A return to the Death Stranding universe is a possibility, assuming Sony and Kojima agreed to collaborate again. The publisher never boasted about the game’s sales figures but Kojima did state that the game was profitable before the PC version released. Back in April, Kojima said that he’d like to make a horror game someday, so we’ll just have to wait and see exactly which direction he decided to go in.
