Kazuya Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tomorrow

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai announced today that Kazuya, the latest DLC character for the game, will be released tomorrow. The announcement came as part of Sakurai’s breakdown of how Kazuya will play when he releases.

Kazuya was first announced to be coming to the game during Nintendo’s E3 Direct, much to the surprise of many players. Sakurai confirmed that the next fighter to be released after Kazuya will be the final one for the game, seemingly bringing an end to development of additional content for the popular fighting game. With that news, fans are now hoping more than ever that their favorite character will be added to the game with this last Fighter Pack.

Unfortunately for a lot of people, Sakurai put an end to their hopes and dreams today with the announcement of the Mii Fighter costumes that will be released alongside Kazuya.

Lloyd (Tales of Symphonia), Dragonborn (Skyrim), Dante (Devil May Cry), and Shantae (Shantae) are all coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as Mii Fighter costumes, meaning that they will not be getting a proper slot on the game’s roster. Each of these characters has been highly requested by the community, with Dante being the most requested of the group, so it’s disappointing for many to see the characters all be de-confirmed at the same time. Whoever the final character is, they won’t be released for a while, though they will still be out by the end of this year.

When Kazuya joins Smash Bros tomorrow, he’ll join Min-Min (Arms), Steve (Minecraft), Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII), and Pyra/Mythra (Xenoblade Chronicles 2) as part of the game’s second Fighter’s Pass. Based on the footage shown today, he looks to be a very complex character that’ll be tough to learn and take full advantage of due to his vast and very technical move-set. We’ll find out how the Tekken mainstay plays for ourselves soon enough.
