ICYMI: Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War Cover Art Revealed

Early this afternoon, the cover art was revealed for Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, the next entry in the long running franchise. The reveal came from a video posted on the franchise’s Twitter page. In the video, magazines and wartime propaganda are peeled away to reveal a soldier whose national allegiances are split down the middle, Russian on one side and American on the other. This could signify that we’ll be playing as a soldier on both sides of the Cold War, or possibly even a character that’s posing as a double agent. We won’t know for certain until next week when the game has its full reveal on the 26th.

Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War is being developed by Treyarch Studios and Raven Software. The game’s setting was heavily rumored in the months leading up to its official reveal. Things started heating up when the title was leaked because of a piece of Doritos promotional material. Last week, the marketing campaign started teasing the game inside Call of Duty: Warzone. Over the course of the following days, fans were given more clues to discover in Warzone that hinted at a Cold War setting.

The official confirmation came yesterday when a teaser video titled “Know Your History” was uploaded to the official Call of Duty Youtube page. It features an interview with KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov, in which he details a Russian plan to infiltrate American society with a sleeper agent that would ultimately result in the downfall of the country.

While we still have to wait to get our first look at Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, Playstation owners can pass the time by playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered for free this month if they’re a Playstation Plus subscriber.
