Hitman 3 Release Date, Next-Gen Upgrade Announced
In a post on the official Hitman 3 website, developer/publisher IO Interactive has announced that the final installment in the World of Assassination trilogy will launch on January 20, 2021 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC through the Epic Games Store.
Two editions of the game will be available for purchase. The Standard Edition includes the base game, while the Deluxe Edition comes with a variety of extras, including a digital soundtrack and art book, in-game Deluxe Escalations, and a variety of new outfits for Agent 47. A pre-order for either version of the game will also include the Trinity Pack, which will net players three news sets of suits, briefcases, and pistols for their favorite chrome-domed assassin. The Standard Edition will retail for $59.99, while the Deluxe Edition will cost $79.99.
IO also announced that digital versions of Hitman 3 will include a free next-gen upgrade for PlayStation and Xbox owners. The game will launch on current and next-gen consoles on the same date, but this bonus will prove useful for gamers looking to buy a PS5 or Xbox Series X after they launch. The topic of next-gen upgrades has become a hot topic as of late, due in part to 505 Games expecting existing Control owners to buy a new version of the game to get an enhanced version for Sony or Microsoft’s new hardware.
Offering a free next-generation upgrade is the latest way that IO has shown appreciation for Hitman fans. When Hitman 3 was announced, the developer announced that owners of Hitman and Hitman 2 will be able to import locations from those games into Hitman 3 at no additional cost. Additionally, the new game will allow PlayStation VR owners to play the entire trilogy’s content in VR.
