QuakeCon 2018 starts in just two days, and Bethesda has announced a packed schedule full of keynotes, tournaments, and panels. Here’s everything you can expect from the big event and Bethesda’s major titles.
During the QuakeCon Keynote address, Bethesda and developer id Software will be revealing gameplay of the much-anticipated DOOM Eternal. The game was officially revealed at Bethesda’s E3 2018 showcase in a brutal trailer this past June; and last week, the official Twitter account for DOOM revealed there will be a “world premiere of DOOM Eternal gameplay on Friday, August 10.”
We can also expect an extended look at Rage 2 in the form of gameplay, and some news for Quake Champions. Rage 2, if you remember, was confirmed to be in development back in May, and Bethesda then revealed a gameplay trailer during E3. It’s currently in development by two studios- id Software and Avalanche Studios- and the featured gameplay is (highly) likely to reveal more explosions and intense, vehicular combat.
Snippets of information have been coming out about Fallout 76 since the announcement trailer was first revealed back in May. Since then (and in no particular order), we’ve learned the game will be played entirely online, it won’t be releasing on Steam, the beta will essentially be the full game, and that it’s four times the size of Fallout 4. Everything we’ve learned about the game so far will culminate in a Fallout 76 Panel and Fan Q&A during QuakeCon on Saturday, August 11th at 11:00am CT. Writer and studio head Todd Howard and other members of Bethesda Game Studios will be taking fans into a deep look at what’s in store for Fallout 76, including a look at Perks and an in-depth look at the character system.
Quake Champions and The Elder Scrolls: Legends will host two tournaments during QuakeCon 2018. Those who aren’t attending the event in person can watch The Elder Scrolls: Legends Masters Series on Thursday and Friday- the 9th and 10th, respectively at twitch.tv/teslegends. Alternatively, you can watch the Quake Champions QuakeCon Open on Friday and Saturday- the 11th and 12th, respectively, at twitch.tv/quake.
Several titles will also be playable during QuakeCon. Those include:
Bethesda recommends that anyone attending the big event can stay up-to-date by downloading the official QuakeCon app.
