Guerrilla Games Expands Office Space, Looking to Develop Games Faster

Guerrilla Games is still riding the massive wave of success from the release of Horizon Zero Dawn early last year. The game sold millions of copies to date, making it not only one of the most popular games on the PlayStation 4 to date, but one of the most popular video games across this generation of consoles, period. Now, Guerrilla Games is looking to dramatically expand in order to ramp up the development of AAA titles like Horizon, with new IPs and games based on existing titles to launch every two to three years. The studio confirmed that next year it will lease five office floors that total 7300 square meters in the former Telegraaf building.

In an interview with Het Parool, Guerrilla Games’ CEO Hermen Hulst explained, “I’ve been looking for room for growth for three or four years, but that’s impossible in Amsterdam, which will be the base for Guerrilla.” Right now Guerrilla currently employees 250 game developers, and it’s looking to grow that number to at least 400 permanent employees in the near future.

Though Guerrilla had already made a name for itself with the success of the Killzone series, it’s Horizon that’s catapulted the studio to new heights and has made rapid growth a necessity. Hulst expanded on this, saying, “After Horizon Zero Dawn, we are accelerating, the best talents are coming to us, and last month we have already hired nine new people, but we also needed more space for our sound and motion tracking studios.”

This is great news for Guerrilla Games, and hopefully we can expect the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn sooner rather than later.
