Gotham Knights is the New Game From WB Montreal

After a lot of teasing, WB Montreal finally announced their next game during the DC Fandome event, and its called Gotham Knights. It’s an action-RPG with a completely new story that isn’t connected to the previous Arkham franchise.

A trailer was first shown, revealing that Batman has been killed. As a result, Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood have to step up and fill the void to keep Gotham City safe. The secretive organization called The Court of Owls appeared at the end of the trailer as well, confirming that they’ll be playing a major role on the story.

Gotham will be an open-world for players to explore and patrol five different boroughs of the city. In addition to their own heroic traversal abilities, each character is also able to use the Batcycle to get across the city.

A gameplay trailer was also shown in which Batgirl was driving the Batcycle on a mission to stop Mr. Freeze. The footage revealed that the game will support co-op, as another player joined the session as Robin and the two of them worked together for the remainder of the demo. In fact, the entire game can be played either solo or in 2-player online co-op.

Each character in Gotham Knights has their own unique abilities, gear, weapons, and suits that can be customized. The gameplay demo showed Batgirl perform an ability that summoned a swarm of bats to surround her, and Robin did one that called down a fiery barrage on a small area.

While Gotham Knights doesn’t have a specific release date, the game will be releasing in 2021 for Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Gotham Knights isn’t the only DC game being revealed today. Rocksteady is also going to finally reveal their new game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League later tonight during DC Fandome at 5:10 PT/ 8:10 ET.
