E3 2021: Avengers’ Black Panther DLC Gets A New Trailer

Make way for the king because Black Panther is heading to Marvel’s Avengers and we got a brand new look at him during Square Enix’s E3 showcase.

The War for Wakanda expansion was announced some time ago, but this is the first time we’re actually getting a good look at the upcoming content. In the expansion, Klaw comes to Wakanda looking to steal the country’s treasured resource Vibranium, and it’s up to T’Challa, the Black Panther, to stop him. The Avengers will have his back though, so he won’t be facing this threat on his own.

While this new look at the Marvel’s Avengers expansion doesn’t feature any gameplay and is all cinematic, it’s still plenty exciting. The bigger question is whether or not it will be enough to get players to keep playing the game. Marvel’s Avengers hasn’t had the best reception since its release and has slowly been adding new content to the game in an attempt to keep players interested and engaged. Since release, Clint Barton and Kate Bishop have been added and brought with them their own stories that also tied into one another. But since Clint’s addition back in March, the game has been adding new content in the form of monthly events, that while nice, isn’t strong enough to keep players interested.

More heroes would help Marvel’s Avengers stay afloat, but there don’t appear to anymore coming until the release of Black Panther in August. There’s also he question of the PlayStation exclusive character Spider-Man. We’ve yet to see anything for him and we’re almost at the one-year mark since the game’s release. Both him and Black Panther will certainly get people to play the game again, but at that point, will they be too little, too late? We’ll start to get an idea of things when War for Wakanda releases in just a few months.

Aside from this new expansion for Marvel’s Avengers, Square Enix also announced that we’ll be getting a Guardians of the Galaxy game this October and that a new Final Fantasy spin-off is coming next year.
