E3 2018: Control is the Mysterious New IP You Need to See

Tonight at Sony’s E3 2018 showcase, developer Remedy Entertainment and publisher 505 Games debuted Control, a new IP that takes time-bending and environment shifting to the next level. If you think the game looks like a cross between Christopher Nolan’s every day dreams and Quantum Break, you’d be right.

Control Game

Control is the story of a woman named Jesse Faden. According to the game’s main page, developer Remedy invites us to “dive into a dark and brutalist-inspired world where daily reality has been corrupted by an otherwordly force. You are the new director and you must regain Control.” What follows is a series of “decoding cryptic ciphers”, discovering government secrets, and more.

Players are able to define their own style of gameplay, by incorporating Jesse’s supernatural abilities and (presumably weapon) upgrades into their playthrough. Couple that with a variety of environments that constantly shift and change, and we’re left with a game that’s as dynamic as it is intriguing.

It should come as no surprise that Remedy is tackling a game of this scope and content. Known for its intense, high action titles, Remedy brought us titles such as Alan Wake, Max Payne, and Quantum Break.

Control is set to release some time in 2019 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. Keep up with all LoadingXP’s E3 news here.
