When Twin Mirror was first announced this past June, it took many by surprise, as fans of DONTNOD’s games only knew of the studio to be working on Life is Strange 2.
Twin Mirror is a narrative-driven, psychological thriller where memories play a large role in trying to solve a mystery in the remote town of Basswood, West Virginia. The official description from publisher Bandai Namco explains the game as:
Samuel, a 33-year old man recovering from a recent break-up, returns to his hometown Basswood, West Virginia, for the funeral of his best friend. Understandably depressed and bitter, he feels completely out of sorts and out of place… But when he wakes up in his hotel room with a bloody shirt and no memory of his whereabouts the previous night, he embarks on a twisted investigation to find the truth.
To date, there has only been a reveal trailer for the game, along with a developer diary from DONTNOD, which dives a little deeper into the story. Right now it’s unclear if DONTNOD will be taking the same choice-based gameplay approach like we’ve seen in Life is Strange. We’re sure to learn more soon, though, because the official Twin Mirror Twitter account tweeted “See what’s on the other side of the mirror…August 21st”, implying a proper reveal of the game will be coming on this date.
Similarly, DONTNOD also has a full reveal coming of Life is Strange 2 just one day earlier on August 20th. It’s a busy month for the team!
Twin Mirror is expected to come out some time in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Check back here for more updates after the reveal on August 21st.
