Another games industry figure got to see Death Stranding and walked away impressed.
This time the praise comes from Julian Gerighty, who currently serves as creative director on Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, which launches today for gold and ultimate edition customers and on Friday for everyone else.
Gerighty tweeted on Sunday about the “many awesome things” that he experienced during The Division 2’s development and thanked Hideo Kojima “for having welcomed us to his gorgeous studio and shown us his mind blowing game.” The tweet features a picture of Gerighty and Kojima posing in front Kojima Productions’ Ludens statue, and Gerighty also mentions that Death Stranding “will be timeless.”
Kojima has shown the game to a variety of game developers and filmmakers, including God of War Creative Director Cory Barlog and Kong: Skull Island Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. In January, Kojima held a private demo for Guerrilla games, whose Decima Engine is being used as the development platform for Death Stranding. It also appears that Kojima recently showed the game to Jim Ryan, who was promoted to CEO of Sony Interactive Entertaiment last month.
The general public has seen very little of Death Stranding outside of some teaser trailers, with the E3 2018 trailer giving us the best idea of what the game’s moment-to-moment gameplay might look like. It’s not entirely clear when we’ll see more, however, as Sony announced late last year that it won’t be attending E3 2019.
