Cyberpunk 2077 Has a Release Date…and Keanu Reeves
CD Projekt Red’s open world game Cyberpunk 2077 is among the handful of highly-anticipated AAA titles that’s still in development. Yesterday at Xbox’s E3 conference, though, we got a new look at the game in a lengthy cinematic trailer that not only surprised fans with a release date, but with the addition of actor Keanu Reeves as an unidentified character.
After the trailer, Reeves took to the Xbox E3 stage to talk more about what we can expect from Cyberpunk 2077, particularly from the dynamic setting of Night City, when the game releases. Reeves doubled-down on what CD Projekt Red has already revealed about the game, describing it as a futuristic metropolis in which players will play as a mercenary and explore the “seedy underbelly” of the city. The conference then took a turn for the epic when Reeves explained how walking the streets of the future is going to be “breathtaking”. Without missing a beat, a fan in the audience yelled back, “you’re breathtaking!”
The response has been one of the highlights of E3 2019 so far, which led to Reeves trending on Twitter and CD Projekt Red giving away a collector’s edition of Cyberpunk 2077 to the fan who made the hilarious outburst.
Cyberpunk 2077 has had a long development cycle, with the game having been announced back in 2012, a teaser trailer following in 2013, and then news of the game being few and far between for years. So it feels good to finally write that the release date is scheduled for April 16, 2020 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
