Blizzard Classics Heading to GOG, Diablo Available Now

Blizzard has announced via press release that a few of its classic titles are heading to Good Old Games, the DRM-free digital game marketplace that is owned and operated by CD Projekt.

Diablo, the seminal action RPG that launched an entire genre way back in 1996, is available now for $9.99. The GOG release includes two versions: one with “period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics” and another that is optimized for Windows 10 with an upscaled resolution and additional bug fixes. Both versions of the game use the classic iteration of Blizzard’s Battle.net platform for multiplayer functionality.

Additionally, the press release mentions that Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II will release on the platform at a later date, with more information to be revealed “soon.” None of these titles were previously available digitally, so a release through GOG will make it much easier for curious gamers to add them to their collections.

A digital release of Diablo is great and all, but fans of the series who want to hear about something new shouldn’t have to wait very long. Blizzard previously stated that multiple Diablo projects will be revealed in 2019.
