Bethesda Addresses Fallout 76 Concerns in Note to Fans

Prior to the launch of the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A , game developer Bethesda set player expectations via an official note to its fans. In this note, Bethesda provided players with some insight into the scope of the game, while also warning them of bugs they should expect in their Reclamation Day journey.

Before disclosing that players may be experience bugs during their playtime, the game developer further enticed fans to hop into Fallout’s  post-apocalyptic, Appalachian setting. In this letter, Bethesda notes the game’s scale in unlike any other, stating:

We’ve grown to four studios across North America and built a game four times the size of our last. We Developed all new technologies and services – while bending older technology to do things we didn’t know it could. We pushed ourselves in new ways that surprised even us.

Providing this context into the energy and effort the development team put into Fallout 76 generates more excitement and intrigue to a game that is unlike anything Bethesda has produced in the past. Not only is the game Bethesda’s largest, but also its most interactive – taking the style of an MMORPG, wherein fans will have to opportunity to share the sprawling atmosphere with others.

With these new achievements, however, Bethesda wanted fans to know they may experience some bugs in the game’s B.E.T.A. The developer notes that the potential for exploration and adventure in their game also leads to a higher potential for glitches. To mitigate backlash, the studio noted that fans should not worry if they experience gameplay bugs, stating that this is simply the start of the game’s development, which will continue to receive support after it’s launch.

Luckily, we were able to hop into last night’s B.E.T.A to explore this new world, and maybe some bugs along the way. However, in the hours spent in the B.E.T.A, we did not run across many bugs. Regardless of the amount of bugs, Bethesda’s decision to warn players of any glitches and assure them of continued support was a smart move. In an era where the game industry is critiqued for quickly producing half-baked games, Bethesda was able to avoid fan discontent via their statement.

You will be able to explore a post-apocalyptic West Virginia when the game launches November 14.
