Ubisoft recently unveiled details about its post-launch plans for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. In a post-launch and season pass trailer, game director Scott Phillips explained it’s one of the studio’s most ambitious plans for post-release content yet.
After Assassin’s Creed Odyssey releases, players will be getting more story content in an all-new episodic format. Phillips compared it to today’s streaming services or the premiere of a new show, as the team will be continuously providing new gameplay for players to look forward to. Players who purchase the Season Pass, Gold, or special editions of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be getting two “massive” post-launch story arcs which contain three episodes each, for a total of six episodes.
Legacy of the First Blade:
The first story arc, “Legacy of the First Blade” will be launching in December, with one episode releasing one after the other every six weeks. The arc will be focusing on the first “hero to wield the iconic hidden blade”, while learning why assassin’s now fight from the shadows.
The Fate of Atlantis:
The second arc “The Fate of Atlantis” will release in Spring 2019, with new episodes also launching every six weeks. In this arc, players will fight mythic creatures from ancient Greece and uncover secrets of the legendary sunken city of Atlantis.
Additionally, those who purchase the Season Pass will receive Assassin’s Creed III Remastered, which was set during the American Revolution. (The game will also include Assassin’s Creed Liberation Remastered).
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will still have plenty of content available post-launch even for those who don’t pick up the Season Pass. The Lost Tales of Greece will be free to all players, and will contain side quests and episodic stories that will release “regularly between DLC episodes.”
In-game events will occur every week, with new ships or mercenaries available for players to conquer; and lastly, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be getting a New Game Plus mode after launch, giving players new challenges and the ability to see how different choices affect their gameplay experience.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will release on October 5th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Check out the Post Launch trailer below.
